About this event
The college athletics landscape is evolving rapidly, and the forefront of the change is Name, Image and Likeness. College sports is like a tangled web that intertwines and connects to various areas. NIL is the thread that touches everything and dictates the trajectory of the industry moving forward. This presentation breaks down the history of NIL and introduces PR professionals to the power that it has in growing and building brands for athletes in the new era of collegiate sports.

Josh Lively is an Assistant Director of Strategic Communications for Tennessee Athletics with five years of full-time experience in the industry. Throughout his time in collegiate athletics, he has worked to promote and tell the stories of numerous Olympians, NBA and WNBA athletes, National Champions, SEC Athletes of the Year, All-Americans and more. Josh also is an adjunct professor in the Tombras School of Advertising & Public Relations, where he teaches a Sports Promotion & Branding course that highlights the role and importance of PR professionals in today's college athletics realm. In 2023, he was named to the College Sports Communicators 30 Under 30 class. He actively serves on multiple committees within the industry and is currently a member of UT's Journalism & Media Alumni Board.
