Employment: University of Tennessee, Alumni Affairs, Director of Special Events and PR
Why did you choose public relations as a career?
Growing up I had a passion for the news and thought I wanted to be in broadcasting. I was a regular viewer of the evening news by the age of nine. In high school, as I studied the field of communications, I determined that PR was the natural fit for me.
What’s the most memorable moment of your career?
I have experienced many moments thanks to the places that I have had the privilege to work, but getting my Accreditation in Public Relations is the most rewarding one of my career.
Why are you a member of PRSA?
I am a member of PRSA for many reasons, including professional development opportunities and networking with my peers.
What advice would you give to new professionals?
My advice is to listen, learn and watch other professionals in your organizations. It was so valuable for me to take a few steps back and observe during the early years of my career in order to shape the relationships and strategies so integral to my development as a public relations professional.
